PLAY BALL!

Opening day at the Jonesborough Little League yesterday.  Jeffrey had to wait about 2 hrs to play but when he got to he had fun.  Alex did well but needs to really stop spinning and dancing in the dirt.
He was hilarious though chanting "HEY BATTA BATTA BATTA HEY BATTA BATTA BATTA!"  Wonder who taught him that?

Home Improvements

So the time has finally come for us to leave TN. Not sure where we are going but we are moving on up...as they say.  Tony is on some interviews this week in Mishawaka, IN and Clinton, MA.  More are being set up for NC, and I think Pittsburgh (but don't get too excited about any of them yet).  It is like a roller coaster to say the least, kind of in the fun way.

We decided to rent our current home out and are preparing it for rental in the next 6 weeks. My wonderful ex-brother in-law came to do some work for us this week while his kids had spring break. He brought my niece Ashley with him. She has been enjoying the peace I think away from her siblings. :-) So if you know any families moving to the Tri-Cities area and looking to rent check out my house!

He got the deck re-surfaced and bolted it into the house (yes for 5 yrs I have never let anyone stand on it).  And he did most of the floor downstairs yesterday (ripped out carpet and put laminate down) he is finishing the trim and stuff today.

I am so grateful for his talent and speed with these types of things.  I can never find anyone around here to work.  I know my mom and sister are probably wishing he were there doing their "list" (see photos below) but I needed him more this week.

Pouring the sidewalk.
I think this is a redneck fire pit.

He and Ashley will be back in VA just in time to jump into the new pool!

Well I hope to get my ass in that pool some time this summer even if we are moving and looking for a new house!  I may be living in the sun room with the kids for a few weeks!

Mmm…funnel cakes. There’s nothing like them in the world. And when I found this funnel cake recipe(submitted by HeatherD) on Tasty Kitchen not long ago, I immediately printed it out and put it on the top of the stack of Tasty Kitchen recipes to try before I croak.

Project 12 - January 2010

I am participating in a challenge over at Scrapbook and Cars Today Magazine called Project 12
They provide a sketch per month and you take the highlights of each month and create a layout.  Then at the end of the year you have a great album.  I am happy it is Feb. 21st and I have completed the January layout.  I missed the cut off for their contest but that really wasn't the goal.
Enjoy!

Valentine's Day

This week was very busy. I worked at a flower shop in Bristol for a friend of a friend. It was great to get to be creative again. I didn't realize how much I missed that work.
The boys had their parties at school for Valentine's day. Some photos can be found at my Flickr account below. Enjoy!

Finally, another basketball game!

No scores to report (because they don't keep score).  The coach (Rick) had to go take an MBA class so he showed up for picture day and then had to leave.  Tony steppped up to coach Jeff's team.  Jeff had a fantastic time, other than one minor accidental tripping of a referee (the ref got the worst of it we think).  He only played the first 2 quarters and then with the bump on his head we didn't want him to play anymore.  He recovered slightly after half-time, but then didn't want to play anymore.  Looking close up at the photos he is smiling in all of them (at least those not with his tongue out). It has been really sad that out of 5 games my boys have only played 2. Two were snowed out and one we were traveling.
Alex had a great game by scoring twice. He had quite a few shots but they didn't all go in. Unfortunately it is kinda tough to practice hoops outside in the snow and freezing rain, and when you have homework to do.  He is really great on defense and is learning every game about offense.  We need to work on dribbling and not looking at the ball.  :-)  I think the only way to do that is to always hold a basketball and be dribbling when you can.  (I learned that from an old friend way back in the 8th grade).
After Jeff's game (which required us to be there at 7:45am for pictures) we headed to the mall for some preview Valentine's day shopping and brunch.
Then after Alex's game at 1:30 we headed for Rita's ice and Sam's Club for Super Bowl food. Tony has a party all by himself.
Jeff was thrilled that the NASCAR Season finally started last night. At least he got to see the new cars/drivers in the Shoot Out race and gear up for Daytona next week.
YAY!  One sport ends and magically another begins!

I am having trouble imbedding the slideshow, but here is a direct link to the photos.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/janiceandcompany/sets/72157623368650276/show/
