First Grade Fiesta

We had a great day today at another party. Our friend Matthew's parents decided to host a big fiesta for the new first grade. So much fun, food and ice cream! Even their teacher was there...Mrs. Owens is a fun party girl. She was at Alex's party yesterday too!
Enjoy the photos.

Alex's 6th Birthday Party

Alex had a wonderful birthday party at Fun Expedition (a large arcade). All his friends were able to come, and even his new first grade teacher. He is very happy with all the gifts he received and is loving all the Star Wars stuff he got (especially the one Katie got him).
We got an Indiana Jones cupcake/cake. It was delicious (for cupcakes). All the kids were covered in icing. That was a little gross. Jeffrey was in awe of all the festivities. I think this is the first party he was "a part of" at a place like that. He really loved it.
Alex was completely wiped out when we got home and both boys went to bed early!
We will be having another little party on Thursday for his actual birthday. I am thinking ice cream cake!

Thomas and Friends

Jeff was in a very bad mood the other day (see previous post) and this is how I got him to calm down. He thought it was cool to take pictures of his trains.

Scrap room stuff

Some pictures of my new project...changing the colors in my scrap room. Trying to add brown into it. I sprayed those cheap white drawer units with Krylon plastic paint and then Mod Podged papers on the fronts of them. Also painted some really old photo boxes I have had about 7 yrs. Fun stuff!

Kudos to a friend

I wanted to congratulate my friend Leslie Farmer for her hard work and success on launching a new redesign of our schools website. She took on this project with little knowledge of the process (and it ain't an easy one!). She learned a lot along the way and stressed out a lot too. I think she did a terrific job and she should be very proud of her efforts. I know it is a relief when something like this goes "live" and looks as awesome as this one does. (and it works too! I just did a QA check on it and I think it flows really well as she planned and there were no typos that I could see LOL)

First Week of Prek

Well Jeffrey started school again. He is still the largest kid in the class. He is turning 3 in 6 weeks but he is in the 2 yr old class. There are a bunch of criers in his class this year and I hope they knock it off because it has to be disruptive to him. I doubt they will teach him anything he doesn't already know. And I fear more that he will pick up bad behavioral habits from the 2 yr olds.

Oh well, here is his pose for me the first day.

Nice poem, annoying chain email

I liked the poem so I will share, but I am not emailing all my friends with it. -- I love all my friends old and new and do a damn good job staying in touch with them...no stupid chain letter can guilt me into sending them spam!

Around the corner I have a friend,

In this great city that has no end,

Yet the days go by and weeks rush on, And before I know it, a year is

gone.

And I never see my old friends face,

For life is a swift and terrible race, He knows I like him just as

well, As in the days when I rang his bell.

And he rang mine but we were younger then, And now we are busy, tired

men.

Tired of playing a foolish game,

Tired of trying to make a name.

'Tomorrow' I say! 'I will call on Jim Just to show that I'm thinking

of him.'

But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes, And distance between us grows

and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away,

'Here's a telegram sir,' 'Jim died

today.'

And that's what we get and deserve in the end.

Around the corner, a vanished friend.

Remember to always say what you mean.

If you love someone, tell them.

Don't be afraid to express yourself.

Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.

Because when you decide that it is the right time it might be too

late.

Seize the day. Never have regrets.

And most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, for they

have helped make you the person that you are today.

You must send this on in 3 hours after reading the letter to 10 other

people. If you do this, you will receive unbelievably good luck.

*NOTE* the more people that you send this to, the better luck you will

have. SMILE, even through your tears!!!!!

Pleasure Island...a sad day for me

After nearly 20 years in operation, Disney's Pleasure Island is undergoing a major overhaul, including the closure of the Adventurer's Club, Comedy Warehouse, 8 Traxx, Motion, Mannequins and BET Sound Stage . . . The Rock 'n' Roll Beach Club closed as of February 3, 2008.

Pleasure Island is a section of the Walt Disney World Resort within the Downtown Disney shopping, dining and entertainment district. Pleasure Island officially opened May 1, 1989, and will officially close on September 27, 2008.

From 1990 through New Year's Eve 2005, Pleasure Island celebrated New Year's Eve with a fireworks show every night at midnight.

On June 27, 2008, the Walt Disney World Resort announced that over the next two years, Disney will replace all of Pleasure Island's nightclubs with new stores and restaurants.

Disney denied rumors that the changes are due to a drop in attendance at Pleasure Island, stating instead that the company is responding to guest feedback asking for more family friendly experiences.

Wow, I am so sad to read this. I was hoping to visit Pleasure Island in October this year. I spent my 21st birthday vacation at this place. I thought it was "the happiest place on earth" for sure.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Disney and enjoyed P.I. as well. So many memories of the night clubs and the fireworks. Oh well, the end of an era.

Web worms squirm through Facebook, MySpace

Web worms squirm through Facebook, MySpace by ZDNet's Ryan Naraine -- My colleagues at Kaspersky Lab (see disclosure) have intercepted two new worms squirming through MySpace and Facebook, using social engineering lures to plant malware on Windows systems. The worms propagate via the comments features on the two popular social networks, using video lures and fake Flash Player downloads to trick end users into installing malicious executables. As [...]

Look what I did mommy

When you hear these words coming from Jeff’s mouth all you do is cringe and pray that the house is not on fire.

Well today I got a wonderful surprise!

He actually pooped first then read the book…he wanted to keep pooping after he told me he did it by himself. We are trying to go diaperless this week and it seems to be working. The problem is every time I put something on him he doesn’t think to take it off and run to the potty so he goes in his pants.
